The Sensory Analysis Laboratory of CCTAA/IPBeja is dedicated to the sensory evaluation of food products, supporting quality assessment, new product development, and decision-making based on consumer perception. It carries out teaching, applied research, and service provision activities for the community and the agri-food industry. Its research areas include sensory analysis of food products, consumer acceptance and preference studies, and support for research and innovation projects in the agri-food sector.Seed and Plant-Based Raw Materials Analysis Laboratory (LabSEM)
The laboratory conducts analyses and testing of seeds, quality assessment and quality control of cereals, and analytical testing of olives and olive pomace. It performs analyses and tests in support of the certification and recertification of autumn–winter cereal seed lots. The laboratory actively collaborates in and contributes to R&D&I activities, while also supporting teaching, education and training for students and academic staff.Experimental Food Processing Unit (UFPU)
Practical classes are carried out in the pilot plant as a complement to classroom-based teaching. In addition, practical work is developed within the framework of final projects for CTeSP, Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. The pilot plant also supports practical product development trials in collaboration with industry partners, as well as activities carried out under externally funded research projects. The laboratory supports R&D&I projects carried out by academic staff of the Department of Biosciences, research activities undertaken by Master's and PhD students, and teaching activities within the Agronomy degree programmes. Located at the School of Agriculture (ESA-IPBeja), the microbiology facilities are involved in teaching, practical research, and community support services. Focusing on applied microbiology, these laboratories develop methodologies for monitoring the quality of water, food, soil, and work environments, food safety, and fermentation biotechnology.
